National Organ Playing Competition
Saturday, March 19, 2016; 1 p.m, Church Sanctuary
The First Presbyterian National Organ Competition began in 1960 and is the longest running national organ competition in the United States. Join us this year to hear four talented young organists (under age 35) compete for two cash prizes. The competitors will be playing three pieces, a Trio Sonata by Johann Sebastian Bach, a Romantic piece by a composer born between 1800 and 1902 and a contemporary piece written by a composer born after 1903. Three prominent organists from around the United States will judge the final competition.
The goal when the competition began was "to bring encouragement and public attention to the many fine young organists in the nation” which is still relevant today. Come and support these fantastic young organists!
