Annual Report and Leadership
KLM 2016 Annual Report
First of all, I would love to share my gratitude of my ministry here. God was great in 2016 as always. Here are some of the blessings of 2016 in our congregation.
KLM continued its mission to help the North Korean Refugees
Over the past years, we have been financially supporting a North Korean Refugee School called “Heavenly Dream School” located in South Korea.
The living conditions in North Korea are extremely harsh and people risk their lives as they attempt to escape from North Korea. And the “Heavenly Dream School” provides guidance and help as the North Korean Refugees settle to a more free and more peaceful environment in South Korea.
So annually, KLM tries to support them financially through monthly special offerings and Golf Tournament Fundraising events.
In other areas of donations, KLM donated $1000 for the “Kids Against Hunger,” an annual event held in McKay Hall to fight starvation in the world.
KLM focuses on the revival of Worship Service.
Attending the Worship service and the Holy Sunday are one of the fundamentals of Korean Christianity. For this reason, KLM has the passion to gather for every Sunday worship service throughout the year. For this reason, I urged the KLM members to join the choir so that they would be more involved and be more responsible in church activities. And it was very successful because about 30% of the members of KLM are now part of the Choir and their attendance rate has been very consistently good.
KLM initiated many new small groups for spiritual growth, and started a morning prayer session that meets every Saturday. Also KLM is undertaking more endeavors in the “All Neighbors” program.
KLM held two welcome parties in 2016 for new members that have joined our congregation. We call the new members “VIP” because we believe that it is our mission to serve them and bring them close to God. So they are “Very Important People” to us. We are looking forward to the new VIPS of 2017.
Before I conclude, I would like to share one last personal blessing. As some of you may know, I was elected Vice Moderator of Whitewater Valley Presbytery. I have heard that I am the first Korean Moderator in the history of WWV, and I cannot be more honored and blessed to have been given such a position.
